Zone 3 Club Race Challenge Rules

  1. The intention of these rules is to promote clean and safe racing. As such, the rules may be modified at any point to further encourage clean and safe racing.
  2. Eligibility
    1. All PCA Club Racers in good standing are eligible for the Series Championship.
    2. The race events eligible for the Zone 3 Club Race Challenge Series are the PCA Club Races that are run by PCA Regions within Zone 3. Currently these are: Road Atlanta run by Peachstate Region, Barber Motorsports Park run by Alabama Region, and Carolina Motorsports Park run by Carolinas Region.
    3. To be eligible for the year end Series Championship, a racer must compete in ALL THREE events listed. As long as the racer participates in an eligible race at an event based on PCA rules (completes one lap), regardless of whether the racer receives points or not, that race event will count toward participation for the Series Championship.
  3. Scoring
    1. Points are awarded by class.
    2. Points will only be awarded to racers that complete a race. A DNF or DQ results in no points being awarded.
    3. For multi driver cars, the driver that the transponder is listed to will receive the points.
    4. Each event will have only two races that count for points:
      1. The last scheduled sprint race of the event will be a points scoring race
      2. If an enduro is offered, it will be the other points scoring race.
      3. If an enduro is not offered, the second to last scheduled sprint race will be the other points scoring race
      4. Scoring for all races will be the same, regardless of venue.
      5. Extra races beyond the two points scoring races will be considered “fun races” and not count for points.
    5. Position Points by class

    1. Bonus Points
      1. One bonus point is scored per racer that is beaten that is also in the same class
      2. Bonus points are scored only for beating racers that also complete the race. A racer that is DNF or DQ does not provide bonus point opportunities
      3. A racer can score a maximum of 10 bonus points per race
  1. Penalties
    1. DNF
      1. No position points or bonus points will be awarded to the racer who receives a DNF for the race in which the DNF was received
      2. No other racers may receive bonus points for a racer that was beaten via a DNF
    2. DQ
      1. The following DQ's will be treated the same as DNF: Spilling fuel, Missed pit stop, passing the pace car, fueled with engine running
      2. All other DQ's will result in the racer losing all points at the event, but participation in the event will still count toward the Series Championship
      3. The DQ penalty will apply when received in a points scoring race only
      4. The DQ penalty will not apply if received in a practice session, warmup session, qualifying session, or practice start
      5. The source of the DQ reasons will be as listed on the www.mylaps.com  website
      6. If no reason is provided on the www.mylaps.com website, the DQ penalty will be enforced
  2. Points, Standings and Championship information
    1. All points are race class based using PCA sanctioned race classes, and Series Champions will be awarded based on the class they participate in, meaning each class has the potential for a Champion.
    2. All points will be taken from the information listed on the www.mylaps.com  website.
    3. Up to date points standings will be listed HERE
